Urine has acids basically. Due to urine soaking, rashes appear in the diaper region. Diaper rash is very common and is a big problem for babies. Well, not only babies but parents also feel discomfort able because of the baby’s pain. Various ointments, lotions, and creams are available on market to heal diaper rash.
Home remedies work best in healing and preventing diaper rashes. Some home remedies for curing diaper rash are as follows:-
(1) Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice forbids the bacteria to stick to the bladder. Give 3-4 ounces of cranberry juice to the child having rashes. This juice prevents infection also.
(2) Light massage
You can even massage the affected area gently with an antibacterial or anti-inflammatory oil. Tea tree oil is known to be the best. Besides this, you can also use lavender oil, sandalwood oil, or chamomile oil.
(3) Olive oil
Add 5 drops of water to a tablespoon of olive oil. Mix well to form a fine paste. Regularly apply this cream to the rashes. It is a simple home remedy for diaper rash.
(4) Maalox
Maalox is very useful in preventing as well as healing diaper rash. You can apply Maalox on the affected area with a cotton ball. Let it dry completely. It not only treats heartburn and stomach upset but also does magic on rashes. It cools the infected skin.
(5) Flour
Take some flour and heat it in the pan for some time till it turns brown. Now add some water to make a thick paste. Apply this paste to the affected area. It is a simple home remedy for diaper rashes.
(6) Oatmeal and lukewarm water
Add a cup of oatmeal to the tub of lukewarm water. Bathe your baby with this. He will feel at ease. Do not use a harsh towel to dry the bottom. Either use a softer one or allow it to dry itself.
Another most important thing is to give the bottom some air. Let your child play on some soft mat without the bottom wear daily for about 30 minutes. It helps in preventing diaper rash.
(7) Milk of Magnesia
Milk of magnesia is a very effective home remedy for healing as well as preventing diaper rashes. Apply over the affected area regularly to get rid of rashes.
Tips: Do not use soaps or baby wipes too often to treat rashes as they can make the situation worsen. Chemicals in these products can irritate the soft skin of babies.
